The 1st National Symposium on Academic Writing aims to promote and honor English language learners' academic skills and achievements as writers and scholars. Furthermore, this event fosters a dialogue between the students, professors, and scholars from various parts of Iran, creating a bridge between diverse cultures and languages.

Call for Manuscripts

The organizing committee of The 1st National Symposium on Academic Writing invites language learners (beginner, intermediate, advanced) to submit a manuscript for one of the following categories:

  • Letter
  1. A formal letter to the president of university asking for scholarship
  2. A formal letter to a former adviser asking for a recommendation letter to pursue higher education
  3. An invitation letter asking an international figure to deliver a keynote speech at a conference
  4.  A letter to a family member asking them to attend a graduation ceremony
  5. Responding to the letter sent by the head of your company/institution accepting or rejecting their invitation to attend a dinner party
     
  • Composition 
Write 150-200 words on one of the designate topics (see below).

  • Paragraph 
Write 150-200 words on one of the designate topics (see below).

  • Essay 
Write at least 1,000 words on one of the designate topics (see below).

Topics for Composition, Paragraph, Essay pieces.
  1. Nature

  3. The Best Means of Travel: Public Transportation or Personal Vehicles?
  4. How to Prepare for a Test?
  5. How to Succeed in a Test?
  6. Why Studying?
  7. Kindness
  8. Student-teacher Mutual Expectations?
  9. How to Promote Social conduct?
  10. Studying at an Accredited University?

Other requirements/rules
  1. The Composition, Paragraph, Essay, and Letter pieces must be typed in 12-point Times New Roman.
  2. Writing mechanics, including indentation and margins, must be observed.
  3. Each participant can submit in one or more categories.

Awards
  1. The first 10 participants in each category will be awarded valuable gifts along with Honors Diplomas signed by national/international judges.
  2. The first 20 participants in each category can enroll in a free writing workshop offered after the event.
  3. All contributors will be awarded participation certificates.

Note: Those who participate through an institution may submit the payment and accompanying documents to the head of the institute for a group registration.
